Win a relaxing getaway on Rotoroa Island (competition now closed)

Rotoroa Island is a place dear to our hearts, so much so that members of our New Zealand team and their families headed over last year to help clean up one of the amazing beaches and some reserve land.

We were keen to give others the chance to visit this awesome place, which feels like a world away but is only about an hour’s trip from Auckland. So we’ve launched a competition for a family to win a weekend there.

Rotoroa isn’t just a great place to relax for a weekend, it’s also a conservation estate that’s going to be home to more than 20 native animal species in the next decade, thanks to a partnership between The Rotoroa Island Trust and Auckland Zoo to establish a wildlife sanctuary there.

The island - nestled behind Waiheke - has got a rich history, with many heritage buildings including the original 1860s school house, a chapel and the jail.

And there’s a network of walking trails that wind through regenerating bush. One of the walks takes you to commanding views of Ponui, another Hauraki Gulf Island, and you can visit the mast from Tiri II, the ship that broadcast Radio Hauraki from the Gulf. Or you can go fishing from the Home Bay Wharf.

Rotoroa also has a thriving arts community, with a museum and heritage centre and a seven metre-high Chris Booth sculpture on the southern headland.

For a chance to win, spend $40 on ecostore products in our Auckland store or online. You and your family (up to five people) will stay at either Oranga (pictured top in the image below) or Mahoe (pictured below) Holiday Home, and get 360 Discovery return ferry tickets. Keep in mind you’ll need to make your own way to Auckland if you don’t live in the city of sails.

Entries are open to New Zealand residents until 5 December and you can take the trip up until the end of March next year, subject to availability (with some holiday exclusions). The full Ts and Cs are online. Read the Ts and Cs and get your entry in here.
