Social September

It’s been proven that face to face social connections are beneficial for your overall wellbeing promoting positive mental health and even impact the health of your heart. Social September is reminding us of what it means to truly connect with our world and the people in it.

For more than two decades we’ve been connecting in ways that previous generations could never have imagined. The irony is that we are not doing it face to face – we are using technology to provide the link to the outside world. Never before have we had the immediacy yet the isolation of modern connection. While social media does indeed have its place in our busy lives, it’s important that we remind ourselves of the value of true connections and real conversations.  Being able to express ourselves honestly and openly is vital to our mental wellbeing and sense of social inclusion. Surrounding ourselves with supportive and loving friends gives us the courage to be our true selves and have the courage to experience all that life has to offer.

Launched in 2012, this ingenious initiative was developed by the REACH foundation, whose mission is show all young people, regardless of circumstance, they do have support available to fulfil their potential.  If you would like to know more about or join in ‘Social September’ and help the REACH foundation raise funds, here’s the link to their page.

We’d love to hear from you too about how you plan to disconnect to reconnect with your world in September by commenting below.
